In 1999, The Road Called STRATE began providing services to truly fulfill it's mission.

Serving- Denver Metro, Arapahoe and Adams Counties.

 

Goals and Objectives are:

  • Change the behaviors of disadvantaged, at-risk and juvenile offenders

  • Counsel families to change behaviors

  • Mentor and provide positive role models

  • Provided educational preparation and support for G.E.D. or reentry into school

 
Denver's Road Home
 

The Road Called STRATE provides the following services at no  charge to the participants:

    • At risk youth counseling at Gilliam Detention Center
    • Family Outreach Communication Planning
    • Youth & family assessments completed weekly/monthly
    • ADAD Alcohol & Drug Abuse Division rehabilitation
    • DUI Counseling (Driving With Care Class)
    • Domestic Violence Counseling
    • VOCA. Rehab for Denver, Arapahoe, Adam Counties
    • HIV prevention, treatment, education, outreach referrals

Counseling:  
   

Counselors for The Road Called STRATE include: James D. Thomas, Michelle Sykes, Kenneth Ware, Carl McFarland, Minister Linda K. Brame, Pastor Belinda Haley, and Mary Ann Brigham.

Alcohol and drug counseling is provided by Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) certified counselors.

 

 

In addition to providing these services, The Road Called STRATE also provides counseling for problem solving, stress and anger management, assaultive therapy, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.

Mentoring programs provide individuals with better strategies for self-improvement and change.

Employment & Education:

The Road Called STRATE offers many opportunities for the individual to improve his or her skills in a variety of ways. By educating

Free Computer classes offering instruction in Windows Operating Systems Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Resume writing.

Classes will include G.E.D. preparation, Internet training and instruction for finding jobs using the internet.

Microsoft Word Beginner/ Intermediate / Advanced Class

In the beginning class, you will learn:
  1. How to start Word
  2. The basic keys
  3. Fundamentals of Word
  4. How to type a letter
  5. How to change margins
  6. How to save a document
  7. How to print your document
In the intermediate class, you will learn:
  1. How to cut and paste into a document
  2. Move words and sentences
  3. How to add art work
  4. How to change font sizes
  5. How to change colors
  6. How to add borders on pages
  7. How to add headers and footers to your documents
In the advanced class, you will learn:
  1. How to make charts
  2. How to add data from other software
  3. How to add clipart and WordArt to your document
  4. How to use other Word templates
  5. How to use AutoShapes
  6. How to add tables to your document
  7. How to use the draw tools
Mondays will focus on creating resumes, using the Internet to find employers, and  Desktop Applications.

Thursday evenings will be used for Internet training and other computer classes.

Friday mornings will focus on Internet training and Security.

Saturdays will be used to teach common computer usage.
